This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.

Level promotions (Member to Senior) may be permitted, but are not guaranteed, on this requisition.

Employees must remain in their current position for one year before applying for a new position, with the exception of student interns. Application of this requirement will not supersede collective bargaining agreements. We are seeking a Records Management Professional for the Sandia California Technical Library. In this role, the selected candidate will review and update records in accordance with current National Archives and Record Administration and record management standards.This position is in the Secure Collaborations Solutions group.

On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Maintain the Records Management Manual and assist in developing recorded information management system specifications by using best practices, assessing business needs, and clearly documenting requirements.
  • Collaborate with information technology professionals on the design and implementation of corporate and local information solutions for the long-term storage, preservation, and migration of digital records as well as information release.
  • Appraise records for inclusion in the recorded information management program.
  • Provide compliance support for internal and external audit/assessment responses to include leading and/or serving on cross-functional teams and assisting with validation of corrective actions.
  • Create and revise retention schedules and records management programs including vital records, disaster recovery, contingency planning, and information lifecycle.
  • Set up systems of written, photographic, or video record cataloging, storage, and retrieval for organizations in accordance with established retention schedules.
  • Work with National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and Department of Energy (DOE) to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Perform research of corporate collections in response to legal holds, technical staff research, audits, and investigative requests from a variety of agencies, including NARA, FOIA, and NIOSH.
  • Design outreach and training initiatives for customers, such as records management training for staff

  • Bachelor's degree in Records Management, Information Systems, Library Science, Business, or other relevant field plus five or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level clearance.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and presentation skills.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Experience as a system/product owner.
  • Knowledge of Sandia's records management policies, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements and risks affecting records management and administration.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill with requirements and best practices for electronic records management.
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, or interpreting information to promote the development of the institutional records management program.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Active Q security clearance or equivalent

Department Description:

The Sandia California Technical Library manages institutional, organizational, programmatic or facility records, including submittal, receipt, transfer, storage, research, retrieval, usage, and disposition. We work with Federal regulatory agencies, National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and Department of Energy (DOE), to ensure compliance with federal orders and regulations and serve as steward to preserve institutional memory.

The Secure Collaborations Solutions group provides reliable interactive communications capability that enables Sandians to effectively and securely share ideas, concepts and information. The tools that we support are: videoconference rooms, videoconferencing technologies, desktop videoconferencing and application sharing.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
