This advert may close early should sufficient applications be received, so early application is advised. This position will be based from home.

We Are With You ‘WithYou’ are recruiting for an experienced Information Governance Officer, to be a key member of our IG team, implementing and delivering our IG strategy. If you are looking for a busy and varied role, working collaboratively with our Data Protection Officer to develop and manage effective IG processes to meet statutory and regulatory requirements and coordinate policies, guidance and training, we’d love to hear from you. Please note this is a highly technical role and is not suitable for anyone looking for a career change into Information Governance.

As Information Governance Officer you will be a champion for robust, ethical and effective information governance across WithYou’s services, working with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure compliance and understanding of data protection within our staff. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the IG work plan to ensure the organisation meets adequate IG standards and will use your experience to support the annual review and update cycle of policies and procedures and assist the DPO in the review of training material. A key part of this role will be to provide advice, guidance and interpretation on matters relating to IG to colleagues across the organisation, to ensure the organisation minimises risk and meets legal obligations.

WithYou is a drug, alcohol and mental health charity employing over 1,600 staff. With over 80 services across England and Scotland, we provide support and advice without judgement to more than 100,000 people a year.

At WithYou, we work with people on their own goals, whether that’s staying safe and healthy, making small changes or stopping an unwanted habit altogether. We give people support in a way that’s right for them either face to face in their local service, community or online. We use our expertise to improve the help available and raise awareness around drugs, alcohol and mental health so that more people can get support.

The role of Information Governance Officer is full time, permanent and based from home.

All applicants need to submit a CV and a covering letter on why you should be considered for this role. Applications will not be accepted if no covering letter is included. As part of the interview process you will be required to give a presentation to our DPO and interview panel. You will be notified of the topic should you be selected to go through to the interview stage.

As a confident Information Governance Officer, with experience gained ideally in the Health and Social Care field, you will have exceptional communication skills and will be able to adapt your communication style to explain complex and technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders. You will have a good understanding of the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act and excellent planning and organisational skills.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A proven track record of developing and managing data assurance, information governance and other operational processes to improve compliance.
  • Experience of dealing with information sharing agreements and subject access requests (SARS).
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act, Caldicott Principles and the NHS Information Governance Toolkit.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively to different teams, and make complex and technical language and concepts simple.
  • Ability to interpret IG data into actionable recommendations for different teams and support learning and training of staff in IG matters.
  • Good IT and digital skills, comfortable using Microsoft and Google suite applications.
  • Strong team-working skills with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including external suppliers and partners
  • Ability to contribute to a positive working environment in which equality and diversity are well managed and staff are empowered and motivated
