Job Description: Senior Disability Benefits Representative
About this Opportunity: Disability Benefits of Americaseeks a Senior Disability Benefits Representative to assess, strategize, execute, and lead SSDI and SSI cases primarily, but not exclusively, for military Veterans. This is not an entry level position. This individual must be an elite-level Representative with a deep, fluid understanding of the SSDI and SSI regulations, an unwavering commitment for Customer success, and the following attributes:
- Current and future EDPNA status with the Social Security Administration.
- Current and future ADR status with the National Association of Disability Representatives.
- Current and future CEU and Professional Development Plans.
- At least five years of successfully winning complex cases.
- Ability to build and lead a support team designed for superior Customer Service, process efficiency, technical expertise, successful case winning percentage.
Preferred but not required Attributes:
- Military Veteran with an Honorable Discharge.
- Experience within the Social Security Administration.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
- College degree from an Accredited University.
What you will be required to do:
- Provide full-spectrum representation for SSI (Title XVI) and SSDI (Title II) claimants at all levels of SSA administrative review - from initial application through reconsideration, ALJ hearings, and Appeals Council.
- Develop and execute case strategy including medical evidence development, RFC analysis, and legal brief preparation.
- Conduct pre-hearing preparation with clients, including review of the complete administrative record and identification of favorable medical and vocational arguments.
- Examine and cross-examine Medical Experts (MEs) and Vocational Experts (VEs) at ALJ hearings with precision and confidence.
- Manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining exceptional quality and client communication standards.
- Stay current on SSA rulings, HALLEX, POMS, CFR updates, and emerging ALJ / Appeals Council trends.
- Successfully lead a remote team.
- Maintain full compliance with SSA's Rules of Conduct and Standards of Responsibility for representatives.
- Uphold NADR's Code of Ethics and ADR professional standards at all times.
- Hold yourself and your team accountable. Own and fix mistakes early and at a small level. Shared lessons learned to prevent others from making the same mistakes.
- Lead by example with optimism, positivity, proactivity, and teamwork. Office drama and negativity attitudes will not be tolerated.
What you will NOT be required to do:
- Business development. Cases will be fed to your team so your team can focus on successful cases, Customer Service, and professional development.
- Commute to an office each day. Occasional in person team meetings will be required.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on SSI / SSDI representation experience, with significant ALJ hearing experience.
- Demonstrated high approval rate at the hearing level - candidates should be prepared to discuss their track record.
- Proven ability to handle complex cases involving multiple impairments, mental health conditions, chronic pain, and borderline age / education / RFC scenarios.
- Experience with SSA's RASR system, eFolder, and electronic records management.
- Familiarity with Grid Rules (Medical-Vocational Guidelines), Listings of Impairments (Blue Book), and SSRs.
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR documented equivalent professional experience as recognized by SSA under 20 CFR 404.1717 / 416.1517
Compliance:
- Active professional liability (E&O) insurance at SSA-required levels.
- Successfully pass a local, state, and federal background check - no sanctions, suspensions, or disqualifying criminal history.
- Successfully pass an illegal substance screening.
- Current on all SSA-mandated Continuing Education Units.
